I currently work for Sinclair Digital, which is a prominent subsidiary of Sinclair Broadcast Group. At Sinclair, I play a key role in helping to bring innovative new experiences to the home through the implementation of ATSC 3.0 technology. This is the latest television technology that offers several exciting features, including interactive apps that do not require downloading from an app store, extremely detailed emergency alerts to keep viewers informed, and a news VOD component.

I am currently deploying the next generation Broadcast Application (BA). This app lets viewers engage with their TV channel and installs itself automatically when they switch to the channel. When viewers change channels, the app disappears without a trace.

Utilizing existing TV tower infrastructure, Broadspan introduces a new frontier for data delivery, which can be adapted for vehicles, digital signage, and the next generation of ultra portable smart devices. I am playing a crucial role in testing this technology in the Seattle market.

With the rollout of NextGen TV to major US Markets, I am helping enable new experiences for the viewer, without the need for streaming devices. All of these fancy new features run inside of your TV, no HDMI cable or streaming box needed.
Detailed Role Information:
• Designed and operate a sophisticated, remotely-monitored ATSC 3.0 lab for internal testing and standards certification, ensuring compliance and supporting new technology development.
• Partner with multinational engineering firms to create cutting-edge software experiences for NextGen TV, playing a critical role in enhancing viewer interactions and industry advancements.
• Led the overhaul of internal IT processes, reducing hardware costs by revising upgrade policies and procurement strategies, resulting in improved resource efficiency and significant savings.
• Develop and maintain strategic business relationships both domestically and internationally, fostering opportunities for growth and aligning partnerships with corporate objectives.
• Assist in managing teams of 20+ developers, ensuring alignment with project goals, providing leadership, and maintaining high productivity.
• Step into additional projects as needed, providing leadership and resources to ensure successful outcomes and maintaining a proactive approach to problem-solving.
• Represent Sinclair Broadcast Group at interop events, strengthening the company’s presence and staying updated on emerging trends and technologies.
• Contribute to the groundbreaking “Broadspan” project, leveraging existing TV towers to deliver data services for next-gen smart devices, advancing connectivity solutions.
• Collaborate with TV and set-top box manufacturers to ensure compliance with ATSC 3.0 standards, managing bug reporting, feature requests, and optimizing customer experiences across platforms.
