Foster Garvey

Time Worked: November 2022 to January 2023

At Foster Garvey, I played a key role in upgrading their networking infrastructure, significantly enhancing system performance and reliability. Additionally, I helped successfully lead a datacenter relocation project, which involved careful planning and coordination. In addition to these responsibilities, I also focused on re-working multiple vendor agreements to better align with our needs and objectives, ultimately obtaining competitive pricing for various software solutions that benefited the organization as a whole.

Projects Worked On

  • Upon joining Foster Garvey, I immediately began work on upgrading their aging infrastructure to new Junier Networks switches. I also performed multiple re-wire projects at a couple of their locations.

  • I took the time to thoroughly examine the existing vendor agreements that were in place at the time of my joining Foster Garvey. After careful consideration and analysis, I ultimately determined that significantly better pricing options could be obtained. Within just three short months, I successfully re-negotiated 80% of their various software packages, as well as their essential hardware procurement programs, thereby enhancing our overall cost-efficiency.

  • Foster Garvey made the strategic decision to switch network models, which necessitated a significant change to their existing datacenter layout. This process involved relocating a remote datacenter that was previously situated in Spokane, Washington, to a newly secured location within the State of Nevada. During this extensive move, to ensure continuity of service, critical operations were transitioned to the cloud, effectively preventing any potential interruptions to essential attorney/client work.

Detailed Role Information:

• Led, alongside two engineers, the re-planning and integration of networking infrastructure across all offices, improving failover systems and significantly enhancing connectivity.
• Retired multiple legacy systems while strengthening security on critical file and case management systems, ensuring better protection and compliance.
• Relocated the datacenter to a remote location and introduced new emergency outage protocols, safeguarding the business against hardware failures and minimizing disruption.
• Established and nurtured new business relationships with industry-leading hardware vendors, securing competitive advantages and superior solutions.
• Participated in the internal council responsible for overseeing the successful transition to a new VOIP system, improving communication infrastructure across the organization.
• Consolidated domains and networks post-merger, streamlining operations and unifying the organization’s IT infrastructure.
